SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing spa guests with skin and facial services, performing professional relaxing, stress-reducing and enjoyable massage and body treatment services on guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Interacts effectively with the public and Team Members. Performs excellent guest service at all times.
  • Performs full range of massage treatments, skin care consultations and offers to guests in selecting appropriate skin treatment.

Provides individualized skin, facial, massage and body treatments that meet the guest’s needs and expectations.

  • Ensures an optimum level of guest service and satisfaction by providing a clean, quiet, comfortable and organized treatment room.

Performs various types of facial treatments including facial peels, microdermabrasion and related services.

Administers skin conditioning treatments, including, but no limited to, alcohol rubs, body wraps, scrubs and masks, hydrotherapy, dry heat and cold therapy.

  • Educates guests about products, services, and treatments and recommends products for home.
  • Understands and uses universal precautions and sanitary procedures.
  • Maintains professional relationships with spa clientele.
  • Promote and sells skin and facial products, services and treatments and encourages repeat business.
  • Routinely inspects work areas for cleaning needs, defective materials, and potential safety hazards. Notifies appropriate person(s) for proper resolution.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of linens, massage oils, lotions, creams, gels used in all treatment rooms; places orders and re-stocks supplies as necessary.
  • Begins and ends all treatments on time, adhering to appointments and scheduling.
  • Actively oversee and maintain the spa Team Members staff schedule.
  • Coordinates and oversee the work activities of spa Team Members, making sure they follow treatments protocols, checking there daily “Opening and Closing check list”.
  • Administer Team Members performance evaluations. Verifies that all Team Members are licensed in accordance with city, state and TGC codes and regulations.
  • Organize all training for new hires and organized quarterly training program for all Team Members.
  • Maintain supplies inventory for both professional use and retail sale.
  • Maintains a keep interest in their own physical well-being and appearance, reflecting the mood and image of the spa.
  • Performs other duties as may be required including assisting in the reception area and assisting with the upkeep of the locker rooms, fitness center, stockroom and salon.
  • Maintains a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Performs any reasonable request made by management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required. Certification for Massage Therapist through an accredited institution required. Graduate of an accredited cosmetology school. Two years’ experience required preferably in a salon, spa or resort setting.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a Massage Therapist must be presented prior to employment and certification requirements must be maintained during length of employment. Current Esthetician California Certification/License required and must be maintained during length of employment. Must be able to handle clients in difficult situations. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, personable, and friendly, as well as passionate, intelligent, and knowledgeable regarding the spa industry. Must have effective communication skills and be computer literate. Ability to perform Swedish and deep tissue massage required, with shiatsu and reflexology desired. Must have a well-rounded knowledge of human anatomy. Must have superior guest service skills and the ability to maintain confidential information due to the close contact with guests.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write basic instructions and correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one situations to guests and other team members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILTY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The Team Member is regularly required to lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
